If we closed all the universities that take in students with poor A Level grades and teach them mickey mouse degrees like 'media studies' we could focus resources on the 100 or so proper universities and fund them properly.
The only reason universities are stuffed with fee paying foreigners is that the government budget is spread too thinly because there are far too many universities.
Apologies if any of you on here hold a bachelors in Food and Professional Cookery from the University of West London but seriously, your education was a colossal waste of public money.

If out universities didn't accept foreign students they would be broke as they are charged much higher fees. Even when I went (and that is a long time ago) about one in ten where I went were from overseas,

Christ, Prince Charles, who with the best possible education still achieved mediocre grades waltzed into Oxbridge. He's self evidently a fuckwit. That has happened with royalty and money since there was Oxbridge. I fail to see the fuss about this girl, I'd argue she's overcome a fair bit to get where she is.

She went to a very expensive private girls school, not the local comp.
It's a bit less impressive when you know she was tutored to death, sat in a class of only 15 and had every possible advantage.
I looked up her school. It has a 100% pass rate at A Level and over 70% of the grades are A or B.
Of course she got 3 As. It's not exceptional at these posh schools.
